Niwiński family band are students of rural musicians, practitioners and researchers of Polish music traditions, looking for the indigenous sound of rural music, initiators and participants of numerous activities to revive the old music traditions. The musicians derived their repertoire from the violin music of Central and South-Eastern Poland, taught directly from the old masters, found in archival recordings and writings. Performing rural dances and music, they aim for a formula of spontaneous, rural music parties, tested by generations, they cultivate dance as natural context of old music.
In the repertoire they have rural obereks and mazureks, polkas, krakowiaks, waltzes, numerous other dances and songs. Musicians gladly return with their music to the places from which they took it – playing at local festivals, rural and urban dance parties, weddings.
