Beltaine’s music is difficult to clearly define. The group’s characteristic sound is the result of the clash of different personalities with extremely different musical experiences. The main inspiration for the musicians is the broadly understood Irish and Breton tradition, but musically the band is simply moving forward. He experiments and blurs the boundaries between tradition and modernity.
The band was founded in 2002 in Katowice. The line-up changed at the beginning, but since 2006 Beltaine has been composed of 7 musicians continuously. The group released 4 studio albums and a live album, which is a musical recording of the tour with the guest appearance of harpist Jochen Vogel. All three studio albums were recognized as folk releases of the year in the “Wirtualne Gęśle” plebiscite, co-organized by Polskie Radio.
From the very beginning, Beltaine’s great strength has been its lively concerts, enthusiastically received by audiences everywhere. The group has performed in over 16 countries on three continents; is regularly invited to prestigious festivals throughout Europe.
In 2011, Beltaine received the “Irish Music Award” in the Top Celtic Rock Band category from the American Irish Association.
