This coded name hides a musician from Lithuanian who is playing Lithuanian traditional dance melodies, but also has a lot of his balfolk compositions. This talented musician first took the stage in 2018, dazzling audiences at the Gikši dance night in Latvia by the name “Šakar makar”. Since then, the members of the group have evolved and changed. This time you will hear Augustas solo performance.
“Rhythmic connections” travelled the world, sharing their sound with audiences at dance balls. Augustas, with others, have performed at a multitude of dance balls across Lithuania, including dozens of Night balls and over 100 dance balls, and twice at the Traditional dance camp. They’ve also brought their infectious energy to audiences in Poland at BalMostFolk and Numinosum, in Spain at Cenizas, in Bulgaria balfolk community, in Gennetines open stage, Lisbon on the fest-i-ball stage and in Latvia at the Balfolk dance ball.
Augustas is passionate about folk, balfolk, and traditional music, and his love for dance shines through in his energetic stage performances and dance workshops. But he isn’t just about playing familiar tunes. He loves to improvise and infuse their performances with a mix of traditional Lithuanian music, international melodies, and original compositions inspired by the rhythms of balfolk.
