Circle of Bards comes from Lublin and was created as an original project of vocalist Mariusz Migałka. In December 2009, the band started cooperation with the Electrum Production label, which resulted in the debut longplay “Tales” (premiere in Poland: May 10, 2010, world premiere: January 21, 2011).
The work of Circle of Bards owes its originality to the combination of various musical trends: rock expression and the leader’s melodic voice are mixed with inspirations from early, folk and Celtic music. Additionally, the group’s style is given a magical character by references to the world of fantasy, Nordic legends and myths, the tradition of medieval minstrels, wandering bards telling stories about warriors, dragons and knightly adventures, which in the texts of Circle of Bards are a metaphor for the condition of modern man’s life. Circle of Bards’ music is compared by critics to the work of bands such as Clannad, Blackmore’s Night or Blind Guardian. The group’s achievements include, among others, a performance on the Folk Stage of Przystanek Woodstock in 2011, several dozen positive foreign reviews in the music press, a presentation of the album in Marek Sierocki’s program in “Teleexpress”, as well as the inclusion of the single “Our Own Land” on the compilation “Folk sie”. gro!”, presenting contemporary trends in Polish folk music, published under the patronage of the Polish Presidency of the European Union.
