Wowakin plays Polish (and borderland) traditional melodies combining folk sounds with modern arrangements. Their musical encounter creates an energetic mix based on folk roots, but also firmly into the modern age. Their approach to music is characterized by freedom, improvisation, and performance bravado. The artists on stage carry on a musical dialogue, having a great time while seducing the audience with the naturalness.
The WoWaKin trio’s music has an incredible dance energy, which is why their concerts are perfect for dancing, inviting everyone to wildly ‘twirl’ to the rhythm of obereks, polkas, mazurkas and kujawiaks. Among other awards, the band won 3rd prize in the New Tradition’16 and Folkowe Mikołajki’16 competitions; they also boast a performance at the Womex’17 festival, participation in many prestigious festivals, including: EthnoPort, Cross-Culture, Two Shores, Singer’s Warsaw, Sounds of the North.
